Carlotta Shuler

Lower Grades Enrichment Teacher

Hi! My name is Carlotta and I’ll be joining the City of Fountains community this year as the lower grades enrichment teacher. What a joy to be stepping into this beautiful community! I have one son, Mikhail, who will also be joining the community in lower grades.

My primary passions as a teacher are nature education, art, story telling, and emotional wellbeing. I love working through the big challenges with the kids and helping them find their path to understanding. Then watching that spark ignite in their eyes when they’re supported through the tough challenges, breaking through that obstacle of understanding, and then their hearts sprout with new life and growth!

Aside from a teacher, I’m also a sailor, a yogi, an herbalist in training, a gardener, micro-homesteader, ceramicist, a crazy cat lady, a hiker, homemaker, and I love lying in the grass and staring at the clouds for hours at a time! You can also find my little and I out in the world dancing to the beat of a drum, scouting out a good art gallery, and taking our boats out to local lakes for a leisurely paddle. We also love paddling with friends and look forward to making more connections with families that share our love of all things nature!

I am honored and overjoyed to be working with the children, families, and my fellow teachers this year to create a memorable and meaningful experience for all of us and look forward to any other opportunities that may present for us to work and connect with one another! I absolutely cannot wait to meet everyone! Until then, may your days be filled with wonder, joy and laughter!

Lower Grades Enrichment

This program is for children in Grades 1-3. City of Fountains School observes the warm learning environment inspired by Waldorf education and is a gentle transition from Kindergarten. The Lower Grades curriculum is rich with nature stories and folk tales. There is strong emphasis on seasons and festivals. We are outdoors during all seasons. Movement and group games are always a favorite! Each week an oral story is told, with artistic main lesson activities to accompany it. Occasionally, the students cook or bake a seasonal treat to share as well.
